The East Jakarta City Government has requested the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) to tighten supervision of excavation activities in the field, especially those suspected of lacking permits. Deputy Mayor Kusmanto stressed that Satpol PP must actively monitor and immediately halt excavation work proven to be illegal. “I ask Satpol PP to monitor and supervise if there are suspicious excavations. If illegal and without permits, they should be stopped immediately and reported because they damage local government assets,” Kusmanto said in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5/2026), quoted from Antara. In addition to Satpol PP, the city government has also asked all districts to increase supervision so that every excavation work carried out by developers or utility agencies remains in accordance with the rules. “All districts are requested to check to ensure there are no excavations without permits. After the excavation is completed, it must be returned to its original condition,” he stated. Kusmanto also emphasised the importance of coordination between developers or utility agencies and the regional government before carrying out excavation work in the field. The East Jakarta City Government stated that this strengthening of supervision is carried out to maintain regional assets and prevent damage to the city’s infrastructure due to excavation activities that do not follow procedures.
