East Jakarta Resident's Albino Python Disappears, Found Hiding Under Car Hood

Jakarta - A resident of Batu Ampar, East Jakarta, searched for his missing pet albino python. The white python turned out to be hiding under his car hood.

The resident, identified by the initial R, then contacted the fire department at 5:50 PM. Firefighters went to the resident’s home.

“Evacuation of one wild animal, an albino python,” said an officer from the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) Command Center on Saturday (14/2/2026).

A team of East Jakarta firefighters arrived at the caller’s home on Jalan Batu Ampar II, Batu Ampar Subdistrict, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta. It turned out the caller’s pet albino python was hiding under the car hood, nestled among the engine parts of the car parked in the home’s carport.

“According to the caller, the pet snake escaped while he was bathing it and fled to the car hood,” the officer said.

Officers arrived at the caller’s home at 5:59 PM and immediately began the reptile evacuation process. Using specialized equipment, the evacuation was completed at 6:30 PM.

The rare snake, measuring approximately 2 meters in length and about 5 centimeters in diameter, was safely evacuated.
