East Jakarta Public Works Department Repairs Collapsed Road in Kramat Setu Village
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Personnel from the East Jakarta Public Works Department are repairing a collapsed road on Jalan Kampung Kramat RW 04, Setu village, Cipayung district.
“For temporary repairs, we are filling the collapsed section of the road with coldmix and hotmix,” said the Head of the East Jakarta Public Works Department, Benhard Hutajulu, when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.
The repairs are being carried out after the road experienced a significant drop, which was feared to endanger drivers passing through the area.
Benhard said that the repairs being carried out are temporary in nature, to restore comfort and safety for road users.
“This road repair is temporary so that drivers can pass comfortably and minimise accidents,” said Benhard.
Benhard explained that the depth of the collapsed road reaches about 20 to 30 centimetres. If not addressed immediately, this condition would greatly disrupt comfort and potentially endanger drivers, especially those on two wheels.
He hopes that this temporary repair will provide a sense of security and comfort for people crossing the Kali Sunter bridge.
“The repair involves 12 personnel from the Public Works Task Force from the sub-department level and the Cipayung district,” said Benhard.
In addition to physical repairs, officers also installed banners containing appeals for drivers to be careful when passing through the area. This is because, in addition to the collapsed road surface, the concrete barriers of the bridge on both sides have also subsided.
The Public Works Department ensures that it will continue to monitor the condition of the bridge to determine further steps to prevent further damage.
The damage to the bridge connecting provinces in Kramat Setu village, Setu sub-district, Cipayung district, East Jakarta, which is cracked and collapsed, is suspected to be due to the age of the structure and erosion of water under the bridge structure.
The initial cracks began to appear about two weeks ago. Over time, the condition of the bridge worsened, leading to a drop in the road surface.
The cavity under the bridge makes the soil structure no longer stable. This reduces the load-bearing capacity of the construction, triggering the collapse of the road surface.
The bridge is known to connect the provinces of DKI Jakarta and West Java, specifically Bekasi. In addition to being an inter-regional access, this route is also known as the fastest route for residents, so it is quite heavily used by vehicles every day.
