Jakarta (ANTARA) - An officer from the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Management Unit (PPSU) of the Bidara Cina Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta (Jaktim), named Endri (52), became the victim of a stabbing after reprimanding a visitor in the area of the village office.

“Yes, I was stabbed after I reprimanded the perpetrator who was heading to the Bidara Cina Village Office,” said Endri in Jakarta, Friday.

The incident occurred on Thursday (May 14) at around 05.00 WIB. The victim was known to have just swept several streets, including Jalan Otista Raya, before returning to the village office to do attendance and take a short break with his colleagues who were on duty.

According to him, the incident began when a teenager entered the village office area without taking off his shoes. He then politely reprimanded him in order to maintain the cleanliness of the area that had just been cleaned.

“I was chatting with a friend who was on duty. A kid came into the village office, I said, ‘Please take off your sandals.’ The hall had just been mopped, it would be a pity for the people who work here if it got dirty again,” explained Endri.

However, the reprimand triggered the perpetrator’s emotions. The perpetrator immediately uttered abusive words and did not accept the reprimand. The situation then escalated into a physical altercation.

As a result of the incident, Endri suffered several serious injuries, including wounds to his right thigh, temple, and lips, which were swollen. His condition was initially worrying and required further medical treatment.

After being stabbed, Endri immediately saved himself by entering the office of the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) in the village office to avoid the perpetrator. In a wounded condition, he also contacted his family to ask for help.

He said that the wounds he suffered were quite deep. In fact, the medical staff who examined him said that his condition could have been fatal if he had not received help promptly.

“I was taken to the Jatinegara sub-district office in a village car. There, they only gave me bandages, they didn’t dare to treat me. Then I was referred to RSCM,” he said.

Even though he experienced a terrible incident, Endri said he had forgiven the perpetrator, who is said to have a good relationship with his family.

After the incident, the perpetrator also came to the victim to apologize in person.

“Yes, yesterday I forgave him. If someone apologizes, I forgive them. But about the legal process, let’s leave it for later,” said Endri.

Meanwhile, the Jatinegara Police Chief, Kompol Samsono, confirmed the stabbing incident. He said that the police had received an official report from the victim and the case is currently under investigation.

“We are still investigating, we have made a police report, the victim has returned home,” said Samsono when contacted separately.

So far, the police are still investigating the motive and the perpetrator’s identity in order to proceed with the legal process. This incident has drawn attention from local residents because it occurred in a public service office environment which should be safe and orderly.
