East Jakarta PPKD Encourages New Entrepreneurs Through Mobile Training Unit Programme

The East Jakarta Regional Job Training Centre (PPKD Jakarta Timur) is working to boost the local economy by encouraging the emergence of new business actors through its Mobile Training Unit (MTU) programme. According to PPKD Jakarta Timur head Teguh Hendrawan, 20 residents at the Cipinang sub-district office in Pulo Gadung participated in skills training aimed not only at improving employment opportunities but also at equipping them with entrepreneurial abilities. This collaboration between PPKD Jakarta Timur and Cipinang Urban Village is part of the government’s effort to strengthen community economic independence. By bringing training directly to neighbourhoods, participants can acquire skills to build independent businesses or develop existing ventures. Teguh explained the MTU is designed to expand public access to competency development while opening new economic opportunities. “We deliberately bring training into the community so that access to competency development is easier. Residents simply come to the urban village office to receive the same training as at PPKD,” he said. The skills provided have practical value that can be immediately applied, whether to enter the workforce or to create independent enterprises. Participants receive theoretical and practical materials according to their chosen fields, including digital marketing, which is now a crucial skill for supporting technology-based business development. In addition to gaining new knowledge and experience, participants receive a training certificate from PPKD Jakarta Timur and a competency certificate from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) upon completing the programme. “This certification is expected to add value in developing businesses and enhancing competitiveness in the job market,” Teguh stated. Cipinang Urban Village head Heidy Amelia Rangkuti noted the programme, which began on 8 June 2026 and involved residents who passed an administrative selection, provides significant benefits. “All participants are Cipinang residents who are either seeking employment or wanting to start independent businesses. Through this training, they are equipped with skills that can become capital for improving welfare and building economic independence,” she said. She expressed hope that the training would be a first step towards the emergence of new entrepreneurs in the Cipinang area, as more skilled and enterprising residents would increase opportunities for local economic growth.
