The East Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Sub-agency (PPAPP) is continuously strengthening education in schools as an effort to prevent violence and bullying against children.

“We routinely go into schools to provide education and reinforcement regarding the dangers of bullying and violence that occur to children,” said Head of the East Jakarta PPAPP Sub-agency, Ferlina Kirtiasih, in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to Ferlina, the education is carried out to build awareness from an early age so that children understand various forms of violence and dare to reject acts of bullying. Moreover, school involvement is a crucial factor in creating a safe environment for children. Therefore, the PPAPP Sub-agency not only provides understanding to students but also encourages schools to increase vigilance against various potential acts of violence, whether occurring in the school environment, the family, or through digital media.

“We carry this out during School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) activities as well as other activities held in schools, such as Monday flag ceremonies, coaching for OSIS/Scout administrators, and others,” Ferlina said.

Based on data from the PPAPP Sub-agency, throughout 2025, 578 victims of violence were handled. Meanwhile, in the period from January to June 2026, the number of victims reached 281 people. Ferlina explained that in 2025, cases were still dominated by violence against children, whereas in the first semester of 2026, cases of violence against women and children showed a relatively balanced proportion.

Furthermore, when viewed by case type, sexual violence remains the most common form of violence experienced by children in East Jakarta. In 2025, child victims of sexual violence reached 20.6 percent, followed by child victims of psychological violence at 10.2 percent, child victims of physical violence at 8.2 percent, and child victims of domestic violence at 4.2 percent. In addition, cases of child victims of bullying and various other forms of violence were still found.

Then, from January to June 2026, child victims of sexual violence still ranked highest at 17.9 percent. Following this were child victims of psychological violence at 10.7 percent, child victims of physical violence at 7.2 percent, child victims of domestic violence at 6.3 percent, and child victims of bullying at 3 percent. The PPAPP Sub-agency also noted the emergence of cases of online or electronic-based violence against children.

“From this data, it can be concluded that the most common cases of violence against children experienced in East Jakarta are child victims of sexual violence, followed by child victims of psychological violence, child victims of domestic violence, and child victims of bullying,” Ferlina explained.

She urged the public to report immediately if they know or suspect any violence against children or women so that victims can receive protection and assistance as quickly as possible. Reports can be submitted through the DKI Jakarta UPT PPPA Hotline at 0813-176-176-22, WhatsApp at 0852-1786-6445, or the free Jakarta Siaga Call Centre at 112.
