East Jakarta Police Launch Large-Scale Patrols to Prevent Muggings and Teen Brawls

JAKARTA - East Jakarta Police have launched large-scale patrols under the Cipta Kondisi (Cipkon) and Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD) initiatives to prevent muggings and teenage riots in the area. “The Cipkon patrols are a preventive measure to counter street crime and ensure public safety during nighttime and early morning hours,” said East Jakarta Police Public Relations Officer IPDA Jery in Jakarta on Sunday. Patrols took place Saturday evening through Sunday early morning. The operation aimed to prevent motor vehicle theft (curanmor), muggings, teenage brawls, and other street crimes. The patrol commenced with a readiness review at 11 PM WIB at the East Jakarta Police headquarters. Led by Operations Chief AKBP M. Agung Julianto and accompanied by supporting officers, 78 combined personnel participated. After the review, personnel deployed to patrol and stand guard at locations deemed high-risk for public security and order disturbances. Key locations monitored included the front of Basura Mall in Jatinegara, East Flood Canal Bridge (BKT) on Jalan Pahlawan Revolusi, Al-Falah Foundation in Klender, and the Integrated Capital Guard Post in Kebon Singkong, Duren Sawit. In addition to monitoring high-risk areas, officers patrolled major roads across East Jakarta. The patrol route covered Jatinegara, Basuki Rahmat Road, Pahlawan Revolusi Road, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Road, Bekasi Timur Raya Road, before returning to the East Jakarta Police headquarters. “This is to reduce street crime rates, which frequently occur overnight,” Jery said. He added that the large-scale patrols also demonstrate police presence to prevent potential public order disturbances early on. With regular patrols and heightened surveillance at vulnerable spots, Jery hopes security in East Jakarta remains stable. Officers also monitored nighttime community activities, including groups of teenagers potentially involved in brawls or illegal street racing. East Jakarta Police urged residents to actively safeguard their neighbourhoods by reporting any criminal activity or public order disturbances immediately.
