East Jakarta PMI distributes aid to Matraman fire survivors
The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) East Jakarta chapter has distributed essential aid to survivors of a fire on Jalan Pisangan Baru Tengah 1, RT 7/RW 2, Number 19, Pisangan Baru, Matraman.
“We are distributing aid to ease the burden on affected residents. The assistance was handed over through local RT and RW administrators accompanied by sub-district officials,” said East Jakarta PMI Chairman Bambang Pangestu Aldrian in Jakarta on Thursday.
He said the PMI aid consisted of 11 mats, 11 blankets, 11 family kits, 20 T-shirts, five boxes of mineral water, 50 packs of bread, and 11 hygiene kits.
According to Bambang, the distribution of aid is a form of concern for residents who experienced the fire.
He expressed hope that the basic needs support would help residents during the post-fire recovery period.
“Hopefully this can ease the burden experienced by residents and provide benefit,” said Bambang.
The aid came from, among others, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the East Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), and the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) kitchen management.
“Alhamdulillah, we express our gratitude because aid continues to flow for our residents who are affected by the fire disaster,” said Nuraenie.
She revealed that BPBD provided assistance in the form of 10 boxes of mineral water, 24 cans of biscuits, 11 clothing packages, 11 family kits, and 30 boxes of ready-to-eat meals.
Meanwhile, the MBG kitchen also provided 68 lunch packages for the fire survivor residents.
“In addition to the aid already received, we will also submit a request for assistance to the East Jakarta Social Service Sub-department to help meet the needs of affected residents,” said Nuraenie.
“Yes, the fire this morning in Pisangan Baru, Matraman, destroyed three houses,” said Matraman Police Chief AKP Suripno when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday (19/8).
The three houses affected by the fire belonged to Syazali, Dendi, and Atikah respectively. The three houses were located close together on Jalan Kayumanis V Lama, RT 07/RW 02, Pisangan Baru Sub-district.
Suripno said his office received the fire report at around 04:45 WIB. Firefighters arrived at the scene at around 05:00 WIB, deploying 10 vehicles to extinguish the flames.
The fire was extinguished at around 06:00 WIB. Police confirmed there were no fatalities in the incident, while the material losses from the fire were not yet known.
