East Jakarta petrol station employee assaulted by driver demanding subsidised fuel for luxury vehicle
Police have arrested JMH, the perpetrator who assaulted an employee at a petrol station in the Cipinang area, East Jakarta (Jaktim). When the petrol station employee refused to provide subsidised fuel, JMH used a fake vehicle registration number.
“The incident began when a black Toyota Vellfire car attempted to fill up with Pertalite fuel. However, the petrol station employee refused because the barcode scan did not match the vehicle’s registration number, so the filling could not be carried out as per regulations,” said the Head of Public Relations at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Tuesday (24 February 2026).
Based on a photo received by detikcom, the fake registration plate used by the perpetrator had the number L-1-XD. Budi said that the plate was not intended for the black Toyota Vellfire car driven by the perpetrator.
“The barcode scan did not match the vehicle’s registration number, so the filling could not be carried out as per regulations,” explained Budi.
Claimed to be a Police Officer, Turns Out to be a Private Entrepreneur
Budi also explained that the perpetrator, who claimed to be an officer, was actually a private entrepreneur. According to him, the results of the investigation showed that the perpetrator was not a member of the police force, but a civilian working as a private entrepreneur.
“The perpetrator, with the initials JMH, has been secured and it has been confirmed that he is not a member of the police force, but a civilian working as a private entrepreneur,” said Budi.
Budi explained that JMH was arrested by a joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pulogadung Police Station. JMH was secured in the Rawalumbu area, Bekasi City.
“The perpetrator was secured in the Rawalumbu area, East Bekasi. The perpetrator was then taken to the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further investigation,” said Budi.
