East Jakarta Man Found in Baubau After Losing Contact
A young man from East Jakarta, Muhammad Kevin Deriansyah (21), was previously reported missing by his family. Kevin had departed to work as a crew member on a fishing vessel in July 2026.
“On 29 August 2026, Kevin contacted his family to report that he had sustained an injury to his leg and required medical treatment,” said the Chief of Tanjung Priok Port Police, AKBP Alrasyidin Fajri, on Tuesday (29/09/2026).
Following that communication, the family found it difficult to reach Kevin. Consequently, the family reported the loss of contact to the police.
“In response to the report, police units conducted cross-regional coordination. As a result of the investigation, Kevin was found to be under the care of the Baubau Police in Southeast Sulawesi, after being disembarked from a ship because he lacked a ticket and identification,” he stated.
The police then worked to facilitate Kevin’s return. Law enforcement in Baubau coordinated with the family and the Tanjung Priok Port Police to ensure the repatriation process proceeded smoothly.
“After the coordination process, Kevin was sent via the KM Dobonservolo from Baubau to Tanjung Priok Port,” he explained.
Kevin arrived at Tanjung Priok Port in the early hours of this morning. The police accompanied him and escorted him to his residence in the Cakung area.
“At approximately 03:10 WIB, Kevin finally arrived at home and reunited with his family in safety. This reunion marks the end of the family’s period of anxiety caused by the loss of communication with Kevin,” he added.
The family expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Tanjung Priok Port Police for the rapid response and assistance provided, which allowed Kevin to be reunited with his family.
“We hope the public does not hesitate to utilise the 110 Service when police assistance is required. Every report will be followed up according to the conditions and needs of the community,” he concluded.
