East Jakarta KPKP targets 200 sacrificial animal inspection sites during Idul Adha
East Jakarta’s Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture Sub-district Office (KPKP) is targeting 200 sites for sacrificial animal health inspections during Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah on Wednesday.
“Today’s target is to inspect the internal organs of sacrificial animals at 200 sites after slaughter,” said Theresia Elita, Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Section of East Jakarta KPKP, at Masjid AT-Tin in East Jakarta on Wednesday.
The inspections are being carried out across all East Jakarta districts with 173 combined personnel deployed to 10 sub-districts. Elita added that the monitoring ensures the sacrificial animal slaughter process meets health and food safety standards.
“Today, we are inspecting slaughter points across East Jakarta, including at Masjid At-Tin in Makasar,” Elita said.
Checks are conducted in two stages: ante-mortem to verify animal health before slaughter and post-mortem to examine internal organs after slaughter.
In addition to physical checks, officials inspect organs such as the liver, lungs, and heart to confirm the animals are healthy.
“Of course, these inspections are to protect the public by ensuring sacrificial meat is safe and fit for consumption,” Elita stated.
Previously, East Jakarta KPKP found 172 sick sacrificial animals suspected to be exhausted from long-distance transport from supply areas to Jakarta.
“Based on inspections, 127 cattle and 45 goats were found to be ill. Of the total 19,377 animals inspected, consisting of 8,136 cattle, one buffalo, 9,341 goats, and 1,901 sheep,” Elita said in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May.
