Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta Sub-District Office for Food Security, Maritime Affairs, and Agriculture (Sudin KPKP Jaktim) has ensured that 60 sacrificial cows at Jalan Swadaya VII, RT 08/01, Duren Sawit, are healthy and suitable according to Islamic requirements. “In total, there are 60 cattle at the holding site whose health conditions and suitability for sacrifice according to the requirements were checked. All have been declared healthy and suitable for sacrifice,” said Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Section of Sudin KPKP East Jakarta, Theresia Ellita, at the Afau Breeder cattle sales location on Jalan Swadaya VII, RT 08/01, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Thursday. According to her, her office is tightening health checks on sacrificial animals at various holding and sales locations. These checks are carried out comprehensively to ensure the animals’ health conditions and suitability for sacrifice according to the requirements. Theresia stated that the checks cover the physical condition of the cows, from teeth, mouth, ears, hooves and feet, tail, anus, genitals to other body organs. She explained that the sacrificial animal health checks have been ongoing since 27 April and will continue until 26 May 2026 to provide guarantees of safety and comfort for the public in purchasing sacrificial animals. “Subsequently, officers will conduct follow-up checks and advise that animals should not be sold during the treatment period,” said Theresia. In addition to health checks, officers also provide vitamins to animals that are fatigued after long journeys from their origins so that their condition returns to optimal. Not only that, Sudin KPKP East Jakarta also installs stickers and Animal Health Certificates (SKKH) at several sacrificial animal sales locations that have been declared healthy and fit for sale ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. The installation of these stickers is done after the sacrificial animal health checks. The SKKH stickers serve as a marker that the sacrificial animals at that location have been inspected by officers and confirmed to be in healthy condition. Theresia also urged the public to purchase sacrificial animals from locations that have been checked by officers and have official health inspection marks from Sudin KPKP East Jakarta. Through this supervision, she hopes the public can obtain healthy, safe sacrificial animals that meet the requirements for the sacrifice worship.
