East Jakarta Government Prunes Trees at Risk of Falling Along Jalan Raya Bogor
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The East Jakarta Municipal Government, through the Urban Forestry and Parks Sub-agency (Sudin Tamhut), has carried out pruning of trees at risk of falling along Jalan Raya Bogor, Pekayon, Pasar Rebo.
“Sudin Tamhut is conducting routine and simultaneous tree pruning across East Jakarta today. Topping operations are focused on Jalan Raya Bogor RT 04/RW 07, Pekayon Urban Village, Pasar Rebo Sub-district,” said the Head of East Jakarta’s Sudin Tamhut, Dwi Ponangsera, in Jakarta on Friday.
Nine officers were deployed to clear branches and leaves. The tree topping was carried out to prevent falling trees that could endanger road users and passers-by.
During the pruning operation, four trees were trimmed — two tanjung trees and two mahogany trees. The trees required pruning as they had reached heights of three to four metres.
“As the weather remains unpredictable, we are taking preventive measures,” said Dwi.
Beyond this, Sudin Tamhut is also conducting tree pruning across all ten sub-districts in the East Jakarta area.
“All teams are tasked with monitoring their respective areas and identifying trees that are at risk of falling, have become overly dense, or are obscuring traffic signs or street lights at night. These are the targets of our topping operations,” Dwi explained.
The East Jakarta Municipal Government pruned more than 20,000 at-risk trees from January to December 2025.
The breakdown is as follows: 2,032 were pruned in January, 1,791 in February, 1,627 in March, 1,768 in April, 1,687 in May, 2,105 in June, 1,914 in July, 1,725 in August, 1,773 in September, 2,079 in October, 1,901 in November, and 211 up to early December.
