East Jakarta Fire Service Extinguishes House Fire in Cibubur
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Dozens of personnel from the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department (Gulkarmat) successfully extinguished a house fire on Jalan Rukun, Cibubur, Ciracas.
“The object that caught fire was a residential house on Jalan Rukun, Cibubur Village,” said Head of Operations at the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-department, Abdul Wahid, in Jakarta on Thursday.
Abdul said his office received a report of the fire at around 12.56pm Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Upon receiving the information, firefighters immediately dispatched their fleet to the scene.
“Officers received the fire report at 12.56pm WIB and immediately deployed personnel to the location. The first unit arrived at 12.58pm WIB to carry out initial handling,” said Abdul.
A total of seven fire engines with 35 personnel were deployed to the scene to bring the flames engulfing the resident’s house under control.
The extinguishing process began at 1.04pm WIB. The fire was localised in only about six minutes, at exactly 1.10pm WIB, so it did not have time to spread to surrounding buildings.
He confirmed the extinguishing operation proceeded safely and under control. By the end of the operation, officers had successfully dealt with the fire and the situation at the location had returned to normal.
Abdul urged the public to remain vigilant against potential fires by routinely checking electrical installations and reporting immediately any signs of fire so that handling can be carried out as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, the homeowner, named Adinda, and her two daughters managed to escape. Adinda recounted that at around 1.00pm WIB, she was on the ground floor of her house with her youngest child.
Her eldest child was at school at the time, and she took her youngest out of the house.
“Then I tried to put out the fire myself, but it didn’t work, so in the end I shouted for help,” said Adinda.
Residents then arrived to help extinguish the fire with whatever tools they had, while several others contacted the fire brigade.
Adinda suspects the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in a television cable, with sparks igniting her mattress.
