East Jakarta Expands Healthcare with New International-Standard Hospital
The rapid development of East Jakarta as a hub for housing, business, and industry has driven the need for modern, accessible healthcare facilities. The inauguration of Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Timur (MHJT) on Thursday marks a significant step in strengthening medical services in the region, aiming to provide comprehensive care closer to the community while supporting the health and safety of the local workforce. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo, who officiated the opening, stated that the new hospital represents a synergy between the government and the private sector to enhance healthcare services. He expressed confidence that the facility would support Jakarta’s vision of becoming a global city with international-standard medical care, reducing the need for residents to travel abroad for treatment. “I strongly hope that the development of Mayapada Hospital will help Jakarta become a city with better health awareness. I also hope that Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Timur will become an international-standard hospital so that people no longer need to seek medical services in Penang or Singapore,” Pramono said. The Governor added that the Jakarta Provincial Government is open to continued collaboration with Mayapada Hospital to improve healthcare facilities and provide greater contributions to the community, not only in East Jakarta but across the capital. President Commissioner of Mayapada Healthcare, Jonathan Tahir, said the new hospital is part of the company’s commitment to expanding access to international-standard healthcare through an integrated hospital network. The facility is built with an investment of over Rp400 billion. “MHJT is a manifestation of Mayapada Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to international-standard healthcare services through the development of an integrated hospital network, strengthening medical personnel competencies, utilising advanced medical technology, and fostering global collaborations,” Tahir stated. President Director and CEO of Mayapada Healthcare, Navin Sonthalia, noted that the hospital is strategically located in a rapidly growing residential, business, and industrial zone, making it accessible to communities in East Jakarta, Bekasi, and surrounding areas. He added that the facility also aims to serve the expatriate community, including those from Japan and South Korea, who work and reside in the region. The hospital features several Centers of Excellence, including women’s and children’s health services covering obstetrics, gynaecology, and paediatrics, as well as cardiovascular, trauma and orthopaedic, gastrohepatology, urology, and dental services. It also offers preventive care through a Chest Pain Unit for rapid evaluation and a Sugar Clinic focused on early detection, prevention, and management of diabetes. To address emergency needs in the high-mobility and industrial area, MHJT provides a 24/7 Emergency service supported by on-site standby specialists in internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, and anaesthetics. The facility is equipped with advanced medical technology, including a Cath Lab for rapid cardiac, stroke, and trauma intervention, as well as MRI, CT Scan, mammography, and endoscopy. Its Intensive Care Unit features an ICU Pendant system that integrates medical equipment and utilities ergonomically around the patient’s bed. The hospital also includes negative and positive pressure rooms to support infection control and provide appropriate patient protection. The presence of MHJT strengthens the integrated healthcare system across the Mayapada Hospital network, allowing patients easier access to specialist doctors, multidisciplinary team collaboration, and treatment for complex medical cases. The hospital also serves patients with various financing schemes, including national and multinational companies and insurance providers.
