East Jakarta District Court Prepares Tents and TVs for Public Following Dr Tifa's First Trial
The East Jakarta District Court has prepared two tents and television screens outside the courtroom to allow the public to follow the first trial of Tifauzia Tyassuma, known as Dr Tifa, who is a suspect in an alleged defamation and slander case concerning the authenticity of former President Joko Widodo’s diploma. “Out front, in the courtyard, we have prepared tents for visitors who wish to watch the trial. This is because the courtroom cannot accommodate everyone,” said East Jakarta District Court Secretary Zulfikar Arif Rahman Purba at the court on Wednesday. The trial will proceed as scheduled by the panel of judges on Thursday, 2 July, at 09.00 Western Indonesian Time. The installation of television screens in the lobby area is intended to help the public and journalists follow the proceedings. “There will be two tents on the left and right sides of the lobby, with TVs inside, so visitors and media personnel who cannot get a seat inside can watch the trial from outside,” Zulfikar explained. The East Jakarta District Court has also implemented strict restrictions during Dr Tifa’s first trial to ensure the proceedings run smoothly and to anticipate an overflow of visitors and supporters. The panel of judges handling the special criminal case, registered under number 301/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Jkt Tim, consists of Presiding Judge Christina Endarwati and member judges Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina. To support the smooth administration of the trial, the court has also appointed two substitute clerks, Joyo Supriyanto and Zuliana Maro.
