The East Jakarta District Court has begun preparing security and facilities ahead of the trial of Tifauzia Tyassuma, also known as Doctor Tifa, who is a suspect in an alleged defamation and slander case concerning the authenticity of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo’s academic certificates. The trial is scheduled for 2 July 2026. Court Secretary Zulfikar Arif Rahman Purba stated on Friday that preparations include regulating access and providing facilities to anticipate a potential surge in visitors and masses expected to attend the proceedings. One of the measures being implemented is controlling access to the court area starting from the main gate. All parties involved in the trial, including lawyers, legal counsel, journalists, and visitors, will be given special identification tags. Zulfikar explained that with such arrangements, the number of visitors can be controlled to prevent overcrowding within the court area. The East Jakarta District Court is also providing additional facilities for members of the public who cannot enter the courtroom due to capacity limits. A tent equipped with a television screen or live streaming facilities will be set up in front of the court building to allow the public to follow the proceedings. Furthermore, the court will coordinate with the police, involving the East Jakarta Metro Police, to anticipate any potential disturbances to public order during the trial. Zulfikar added that a security simulation will be conducted in the coming days to ensure all procedures run smoothly on the day of the trial. A designated area in the outer lobby of the court building will also be prepared for journalists covering the trial. The first hearing for the suspect, Doctor Tifa, is scheduled for 2 July 2026 at 09:00 WIB in the Prof. Kusuma Atmadja Main Courtroom of the East Jakarta District Court. Meanwhile, the case involving another suspect, Roy Suryo, cannot yet proceed to trial as it is still awaiting a pre-trial process at the South Jakarta District Court. The case files for both defendants were submitted by the prosecution to the East Jakarta District Court on 23 June 2026 and have been declared complete following an administrative review by the criminal registry.
