The East Jakarta District Court (PN) is closing its parking area for visitors during the first trial of Tifauzia Tyassuma, also known as Doctor Tifa, a suspect in an alleged defamation and slander case concerning the authenticity of the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). “We apologise because tomorrow parking may not be available in the East Jakarta District Court area due to Doctor Tifa’s trial,” said East Jakarta District Court Secretary Zulfikar Arif Rahman Purba at the court on Wednesday. Zulfikar urged all visitors planning to attend the trial to come early and follow all instructions from security officers on site. Additionally, the public is asked to utilise available parking locations around the court building to ensure smooth access for visitors entering and exiting. “Visitors can look for parking next to the East Jakarta District Court; there are several points there that might be used for parking,” said Zulfikar. The parking area closure is being implemented because the front courtyard of the court will be used as an additional location for members of the public wishing to follow the proceedings. The East Jakarta District Court has erected tents in the courtyard to accommodate visitors who are expected to be unable to enter the courtroom. “This step was taken after estimating or anticipating a surge in the number of visitors,” Zulfikar stated. The trial will proceed as scheduled by the panel of judges, on Thursday (2/7) at 09:00 WIB.
