East Jakarta Civil Service Police Deploy 250 Personnel to Guard Bogor Highway from Street Vendors
The East Jakarta Civil Service Police (Satpol PP) have deployed 250 personnel to guard Bogor Highway, Kramat Jati, against street vendors (PKL).
“A total of 250 East Jakarta Satpol PP personnel have been deployed to stand guard on Bogor Highway, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta,” said the Head of East Jakarta Satpol PP, Muhammadong, when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
The personnel will remain on alert every day for approximately the next month as an anticipatory measure to ensure that street vendors do not return to selling on the roadsides or pavements.
“The traders have already been provided with relocation sites, including the Kramat Jati Managed Trading Area (Lokbin),” Muhammadong stated.
According to him, the deployed personnel are divided into two shifts: the first from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM WIB, and the second from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM WIB.
“We are ensuring that order in this area can be well-maintained moving forward,” said Muhammadong.
“The purpose of the established posts is to make it easier for officers to monitor the conditions along Bogor Highway,” he added.
Furthermore, he mentioned that during the one-month period of alertness, the number of personnel may be gradually reduced if the area’s condition becomes truly conducive and traders comply with the arrangement regulations.
“In principle, we want to ensure that traders occupy their stalls as previously determined and mutually agreed upon,” Muhammadong said.
A total of 614 traders were relocated during the Kramat Jati area arrangement, with details including 331 traders moved to the Kramat Jati Market sector 7, 1s93 fish traders to the Kramat Jati Managed Trading Area, 45 cake traders to the Cililitan Managed Trading Area, and 45 traders to other markets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya.
The arrangement was carried out directly by the East Jakarta Administrative City Government between 24–31 August 2026, involving sidewalk repairs, median improvements, utility tidying, and the cleaning of managed trading areas.
Several supporting facilities in the managed locations were also improved, including drainage and air circulation through the addition of fans, to ensure a more comfortable and hygienic trading environment.
