East Jakarta City Government Strengthens Guidance Efforts Following Complaints of Illegal Parking in Kalisari
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaktim) is strengthening guidance measures in response to the increasing public complaints regarding illegal parking on Jalan Damai RT 02/01, Kalisari Ward, Pasar Rebo Sub-District.
“Guidance is already being carried out and will continue. Yesterday, we held a meeting with all sub-district heads and relevant sub-department officials to follow up on public complaints,” said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Munjirin stressed that guidance is key to preventing similar violations from recurring. Additionally, the guidance approach involves regional elements, from sub-districts to wards, to more effectively reach the community.
Through this channel, he provides understanding to residents about the importance of maintaining the function of roads as public facilities, not as parking spaces for vehicles.
Furthermore, handling illegal parking still involves the Transportation Sub-Department as the entity with technical authority. Cross-sector coordination is also deemed important to ensure optimal enforcement that is not temporary.
“For technical handling, we still coordinate with the Transportation Sub-Department because that is indeed their main duties and functions. But from the regional side, we strengthen guidance and appeals,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department (Sudinhub Jaktim) has deployed personnel on Jalan Damai, Kalisari Ward, Pasar Rebo Sub-District, to prevent the resurgence of illegal parking that had gone viral and been complained about by residents.
“We are monitoring Jalan Damai regarding the viral illegal parking. We are conducting surveillance to ward off vehicles that park. This has happened repeatedly,” said an officer from the Pasar Rebo Sub-District Transportation Implementation Unit, Yogi.
Yogi stated that his side is currently focusing on direct field supervision by placing personnel to guard and ward off vehicles attempting to park on the roadside.
The surveillance is carried out intensively as a precautionary measure against repeated violations at the location.
According to him, the placement of personnel at vulnerable points is due to the area having fairly dense resident traffic activity.
Additionally, the presence of workshop businesses around the location contributes to vehicles parking on the roadside, thereby disrupting residents’ access in and out.
