East Jakarta City Government Repairs Retaining Wall in Rawamangun Due to High Water Flow
The East Jakarta City Government is repairing a channel retaining wall on Jalan Rawamangun Muka Raya, RT 04/14, Rawamangun, which was damaged after being eroded by high water discharge during the rainy season. “The Pulo Gadung Sub-district Water Resources Unit’s ‘Blue Troops’ are repairing the channel retaining wall on Jalan Rawamangun Muka Raya. The damage occurred due to erosion from high water discharge during the rainy season,” said Didi Rusdiana, Head of the Pulo Gadung Sub-district Water Resources Unit, in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that the retaining wall, located near the entrance to Jakarta State University, is targeted for completion in July 2026. “Repairs began in early May 2026, deploying eight Blue Troops personnel. The work is targeted for completion next July,” Didi said. He explained that the retaining wall being repaired is approximately 23 metres long, 2.3 metres high, and about 2 metres wide. To date, the work progress has reached around 30 per cent. According to him, the retaining wall plays a role in preventing landslides while also addressing flooding by facilitating smoother water flow. “Hopefully, this retaining wall repair can ensure the channel functions optimally in channelling water and prevent potential inundation,” Didi remarked. Meanwhile, a local resident, Rahmat, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Pulo Gadung Water Resources Unit for carrying out the repair. “Of course, if the retaining wall is better and sturdier, we also feel safer and more comfortable. When it rains, there is no flooding,” Rahmat said.
