East Jakarta City Government Reminds Prospective Students to Immediately Re-register for SPMB

The East Jakarta City Government, through its Education Sub-department, is reminding all prospective students who have been declared successful in the first stage of the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB) selection to re-register immediately. “Those who have not yet re-registered include participants in the SPMB for state schools as well as free private schools collaborating with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” said Horale Tua Simanullang, Head of the Education Sub-department for East Jakarta Region II, on Friday. The self-reporting process is a mandatory requirement for participants who wish to secure their place at their chosen school. The deadline for self-reporting (re-registration) is Friday, 3 July. Horale stated that there are still hundreds of prospective students who have not completed the re-registration process. He reminded parents and guardians not to miss the re-registration deadline. “I remind parents, guardians, and students not to delay the re-registration process until after the specified time limit,” Horale said. Horale explained that if prospective students do not re-register, they will be declared to have forfeited their place. The vacant quota will then be transferred to the admission process in the next stage so it can be utilised by other prospective students. To date, a total of 632 prospective students have not re-registered. This figure consists of 107 primary school (SD) candidates, 328 junior high school (SMP) candidates, 133 senior high school (SMA) candidates, 59 vocational school (SMK) candidates, and five special school (SLB) candidates. The junior high school level has the highest number of prospective students who have not yet self-reported. Of the total 328 individuals, 275 are from the domicile pathway, seven from the transfer pathway, and 46 were accepted through the first wave of free private schools. Meanwhile, at the senior high school level, there are 133 prospective students who have not re-registered. They come from pathways including children from orphanages, children of healthcare workers who died due to COVID-19, the domicile pathway, the transfer pathway, and participants in the first wave of free private schools. At the vocational school level, 59 prospective students have not self-reported with the same pathway composition, while at the special school level there are five prospective students. Horale also reminded the public that free private schools partnering with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can serve as an alternative for obtaining education services without charge. The programme is supported by DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 34 of 2025 concerning Education Cost Assistance at Private Education Units. Through this policy, private schools from primary to special school levels that partner with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can provide free education for students. “This is a commitment to realising equitable and quality access to education for the people of Jakarta,” Horale said.
