Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta City Government has permanently sealed a padel court in the Pulomas area, Kayu Putih sub-district, Pulogadung district, East Jakarta.

“We have carried out the re-sealing. Previously, we had already sealed it. Secondly, we issued a warning letter to carry out the permanent sealing of this building,” said the Head of the Sub-Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (DCKTRP) of East Jakarta, Wiwit Djalu Adji, after installing a notification board at the location of the padel court, Pulomas, East Jakarta, Thursday.

This action was taken because building permit discrepancies were found and it did not have a Certificate of Conformity (SLF).

Wiwit explained that there were two enforcement steps taken against the building.

“So, today we are carrying out two enforcement actions at the padel court in the Pulomas area, Kayu Putih, Pulogadung, East Jakarta. First, enforcement against the discrepancies in the permit. There are several parts that do not comply with the permit,” said Wiwit.

“To give the owner the right, valuable items inside can be taken out. So we gave them one day to do the cleaning inside. Tomorrow we will carry out the permanent sealing,” said Wiwit.

On the day of the enforcement, officers installed a notification banner at the location as a sign that the building would be permanently sealed.

The installation of the banner also serves as open information to the public that the operation of the padel court is temporarily suspended.

The banner reads “This building is subject to permanent closure (sealed)”. It also states that the padel court has violated Law Number 6 of 2023, Government Regulation Number 16 of 2021, and/or Government Regulation Number 21 of 2021.

“The SPP, I forgot the date. But, that was regarding the building’s discrepancies. There are parts of the building that do not comply. There is an area that they built that should not have been built,” said Wiwit.

In addition, Wiwit said that the owner had actually shown good intentions by starting to demolish the parts of the building that violated the rules. This was seen when officers checked the location.

“Actually, the owner was going to carry out the demolition. With the SPP, the owner was going to carry out the demolition. Because earlier we saw inside, they were doing that,” said Wiwit.

However, the government still has to stop operations because the building does not have an SLF. This certificate is a mandatory document that states that the building is suitable for use according to its function and technical standards.

Furthermore, Wiwit added that the permanent sealing will be carried out until all administrative and technical requirements are met by the building owner.

“Later, after that, we will seal the Certificate of Conformity (SLF) permanently. Until they meet the requirements that we are currently discussing,” said Wiwit.

Demolition option

In the enforcement process, the local government was also involved. Present at the event were representatives of residents, Head of RT 05/RW 13 Nelson, Head of Pulogadung Sub-district Syafrudin Chandra, Head of Kayu Putih Village Tuti Sugihastuti, and officials from related departments at the administrative city level.

“Earlier, we all gathered inside and conveyed that today we would carry out the enforcement, and everything went smoothly,” said Wiwit.

“So for now, we will carry out the permanent sealing first. We are currently working on a concept for restructuring, because padel is not just one, there are many in Central, North, West, South, and East Jakarta (PUBST). So, we are currently conceptualizing the rules, both for re-licensing and enforcement,” said Wiwit.

Previously, residents of Pulomas, Kayu Putih, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, protested against the padel court.

The field had received warning letters (SP) to demolition orders from the government.

Some residents in the Pulomas area also complained about the noise and traffic from a padel court that stands in their residential area.

In addition to the noise from the game activities, residents also complained about certain events that allegedly lasted until late at night.
