East Jakarta City Government Continues Healthy Gymnastics Despite WFH Implementation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaktim) continues to hold healthy gymnastics activities for Civil Servants (ASN) despite the implementation of the work-from-home (WFH) policy every Friday. “Today marks the start of WFH implementation, but routine activities like gymnastics are still being carried out,” said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin at the Mayor’s Office, Friday. The healthy gymnastics session is a routine agenda every Friday, maintained as part of efforts to preserve the fitness and camaraderie of ASN. Munjirin stressed that not all ASN are implementing WFH. Some ASN at the district, sub-district, and city official levels are exempt from the policy. Additionally, some ASN from Sectoral City Offices (Sudin) continue to work as usual. “This gymnastics activity is attended by ASN who are not taking WFH,” Munjirin stated. According to him, the joint gymnastics activity serves as a means to strengthen coordination among ASN across units, while also maintaining work enthusiasm amid the flexible work system implementation. Moreover, the moment is utilised to provide guidance to ASN regarding improvements in public services, particularly in following up on public complaints. “We remind that every public complaint must be followed up concretely. ASN must be present to provide the best services, both at the sub-district, district, and Sudin levels,” Munjirin emphasised. Hundreds of ASN were seen participating in the joint sports activity at the East Jakarta Mayor’s Office. Some ASN performed gymnastics on the mayor’s field, while others walked leisurely while stretching their muscles around the field. As is known, the government has officially implemented the work-from-home (WFH) policy for ASN every Friday. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the policy will apply starting 1 April 2026 and will be evaluated after two months of implementation. “The implementation of work-from-home for ASN in central and regional agencies, for one working day per week, namely every Friday, is regulated through a circular letter (SE) from the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform and an SE from the Minister of Home Affairs,” said Airlangga during a virtual press conference in Jakarta on 31 March 2026. In addition to ASN, the government has also urged WFH for the private sector. The regulation is outlined in a circular from the Minister of Manpower, while still considering the characteristics and needs of each business sector.
