Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaktim), through the Sub-Department of Parks and City Forests (Tamhut), has completed the beautification of green lanes at three strategic locations serving as main access routes to the area. “This beautification was carried out in response to the many ornamental plants that have been damaged, from wilting to dying, which reduces the aesthetics of the area,” said the Head of the East Jakarta Tamhut Sub-Department, Dwi Ponangsera, in Jakarta on Wednesday. The three locations focused on for the beautification include Jalan MT Haryono in the Cawang area for approximately 100 metres, Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo for around 300 metres, and Jalan DI Panjaitan for 100 metres. These three road sections play an important role as entry points to East Jakarta for vehicles coming from Bogor, Bekasi, and surrounding areas. Dwi stated that the beautification process was carried out intensively involving 20 green force personnel. They conducted cleaning, plant replacement, and reorganisation to make the green lanes appear neater and better maintained. “The beautification of the green lanes has been completed within one week,” Dwi said. Meanwhile, the Head of the Green Lanes and Cemeteries Section of the East Jakarta Tamhut Sub-Department, Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita, explained that the beautification not only focused on tidying up but also on replacing plants that were no longer viable. “We replaced the wilted and dead plants with new ones. All of them are the result of propagation from Taman Pulogebang Indah, Cakung,” Made said. In the beautification process, they selected types of ornamental plants that have high resilience to various weather conditions, namely bougainvillea and anjuang kribo. Both types of plants are considered suitable for planting in urban green lanes because they are relatively easy to maintain and still provide aesthetic value. In total, 100 polybags of bougainvillea and 1,000 polybags of anjuang kribo were planted at the three locations. The planting was done evenly to create a fresher and more harmonious appearance along the lanes. Made also hopes that with the completion of this beautification, the face of the East Jakarta entry area will look more beautiful and give a positive impression to the public and road users passing through.
