East Jakarta Administrative City offers vehicle-storage service for residents travelling home for Lebaran
The East Jakarta Administrative City Government is providing a vehicle-storage service at government offices for residents who do not bring their vehicles during the Lebaran homecoming in 2026.
Munjirin, the East Jakarta Mayor, said the East Jakarta Administrative City Government provides a vehicle-storage service for residents who do not bring their vehicles during the homecoming. The programme is designed to give residents returning to their hometowns a sense of calm, without worrying that their vehicles will be lost or damaged.
Vehicles can be deposited at the kelurahan offices, district offices and the East Jakarta City Hall across the East Jakarta area (Jaktim).
“The vehicles during the homecoming can be deposited at the district offices, sub-district offices and the East Jakarta City Hall,” said Munjirin.
“Rather than parking at home, we never know when misfortune might strike, so it is better to deposit them with relatives or at government offices in East Jakarta,” he said.
Not only about vehicles, Munjirin also urged residents who are mudik to deposit their houses with neighbours, RT or RW local units. This is necessary so that the houses are always monitored directly.
“Residents who do not mudik should also help look after their villages. Each can collaborate with RT, RW, LMK (Lembaga Musyawarah Kelurahan), FKDM (Forum Kewaspadaan Dini Masyarakat) and all community leaders to deter negative actions,” he said.
“If this is done, we are confident it can prevent disturbances to public order and safety in East Jakarta,” he said.
East Jakarta Administrative City Secretary Eka Darmawan explained that the vehicle-storage programme at government offices is an instruction from DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo, delivered orally to the lurahs and camats.
“The programme will start seven days or H-7 before Lebaran. This is indeed the governor’s instruction, but the circular has not yet been issued,” Eka said.
