East Jakarta Administration States PMI Fundraising Month Strengthens Emergency Services

The East Jakarta City Administration has stated that the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Fundraising Month is an effort to strengthen resources for providing emergency services within the region.

“PMI services are one of the accelerators for emergency services for the East Jakarta City Government, and in its implementation, PMI requires significant resources and funding,” said the Mayor of East Jakarta, Munjirin, during the launch of the 2026 PMI Fundraising Month at JIEP Pulogadung, East Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Munjirin noted that the East Jakarta administration is greatly assisted by the rapid response of PMI East Jakarta’s services to the community. According to him, the need for humanitarian services is unpredictable as it can arise at any time, whether due to disasters or other conditions requiring immediate assistance.

Therefore, the presence of the PMI is a vital component in supporting the handling of community members who require fast and precise aid. The PMI East Jakarta, alongside the East Jakarta City Administration, is conducting the PMI Fundraising Month from 1 September to 30 November 2026.

“The activity involves various elements, ranging from the government, the business world, institutions, organisations, and schools through parents and school committees, to the general public in the East Jakarta area,” Munjirin added.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PMI East Jakarta, Bambang Pangestu, stated that the support gathered during the PMI Fundraising Month is essentially a form of community care that will be returned in the form of humanitarian services.

“The PMI Fundraising Month is not just about collecting funds, but about gathering care. Every support provided by the community and partners will return as strength to help those facing difficulties,” said Bambang.

Bambang explained that the support will be used to sustain various PMI services, such as disaster management, ambulance and health services, as well as providing basic necessities for communities affected by calamities. These services become increasingly important when the public faces situations requiring immediate handling, such as fires, floods, ambulance needs, and other conditions that impact residents, necessitating resource readiness so that aid can be provided promptly.

Furthermore, Bambang stated that the measure of success for the PMI Fundraising Month is not solely based on the amount of funds collected, but on the benefits that will eventually be felt by the community.

The implementation of the 2026 East Jakarta PMI Fundraising Month is based on the legal framework stipulated in Law Number 1 of 2018 concerning Red Cross activities, specifically Articles 30 and 31 regarding funding. The implementation of this activity is also supported by the Decision of the Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency of the DKI Jakarta Province regarding the Granting of Permission for the 2026 PMI Fundraising Month.
