The East Jakarta City Administration has ensured that four road locations that previously suffered damage and were prone to subsidence have been repaired. “All points that previously experienced damage and had the potential to subside have been fixed,” said Yogi Metropeni, Head of the Public Works Sub-group within the Development and Environment Division (PLH) of East Jakarta, in Jakarta on Monday.

He also confirmed that his department is conducting intensive monitoring to ensure road conditions remain safe and do not experience further surface subsidence that could endanger motorists. This monitoring effort is being carried out by the East Jakarta Development and Environment Division alongside relevant technical agencies.

Inspections were conducted on several road sections previously reported as damaged in the Makasar and Jatinegara districts. The four focus points for monitoring are located on Jalan Raya Pondok Gede in Lubang Buaya, two points on Jalan Raya TMII Pintu 1 in Pinang Ranti, and Jalan Raya Bekasi Timur in Jatinegara Kaum.

According to Yogi, all points previously prone to subsidence have received repair interventions. However, the administration remains vigilant, conducting regular supervision to anticipate any recurring damage. “Post-repair monitoring is a vital part of ensuring the quality of road construction work. This is especially important as some previously repaired points showed signs of further subsidence after being traversed by heavy vehicles,” Yogi explained.

He noted that some locations have undergone repairs up to three times due to persistent symptoms of surface subsidence. The most recent repairs were completed on 2 June using a combination of hotmix and cold mix asphalt. “Currently, the condition has been repaired, but the road surface still appears uneven, so we continue to monitor it,” added Dodi.

In addition to monitoring the four subsidence-prone points, the Makasar District Public Works department is conducting a comprehensive evaluation of road conditions. It is recorded that 69 damaged road points in the Makasar district have been repaired throughout this year, including two subsided points on Jalan Raya TMII Pintu 1 which were addressed last week and are now in good condition.

Dodi emphasised that coordination with relevant parties will continue should any further damage be discovered at the repaired sites. “If further damage is found, we will request the relevant vendors, such as PAM Jaya, to immediately carry out follow-up repairs to ensure the safety and comfort of road users,” Dodi said.
