Jakarta — East Jakarta’s city administration (Pemkot) is partnering with police, the military, religious leaders and community figures to prevent youth clashes during the holy month of Ramadhan.

“The role of community and religious leaders is very important in helping the authorities maintain order in the region, particularly during the holy month of Ramadhan,” said East Jakarta Deputy Mayor Kusmanto in Jakarta on Friday.

This cross-sector collaboration aims to ensure the region remains safe and conducive, particularly during vulnerable hours before dawn prayers (sahur) and after evening prayers (tarawih).

Kusmanto also appealed to all members of the community to play an active role in maintaining security in their respective neighbourhoods. He emphasised that prevention efforts cannot rely solely on law enforcement but require collective community involvement.

“During this fasting month, hopefully there will be no tension among young people that leads to clashes. For this reason, the community must work together to protect its environment,” Kusmanto said.

He stressed the crucial role of religious and community leaders in providing moral guidance to the younger generation. Ramadhan is seen as an ideal opportunity to strengthen religious values, increase positive activities, and strengthen ties among residents.

“Monitoring must be intensified. If there are signs or potential conflict, immediately take preventive steps to prevent it from escalating into clashes,” Kusmanto said firmly.

To strengthen security measures, East Jakarta’s city administration is optimising the Integrated Jakarta Security Posts (Posko Terpadu Jaga Jakarta) established across 10 sub-districts. These posts serve as coordination centres between the city and district governments, military and police personnel, and the community to respond quickly to any security incidents.

Through this collaboration, Kusmanto hopes Ramadhan in East Jakarta will proceed safely, peacefully, and with spiritual devotion. He also reminded the importance of maintaining inter-faith harmony as part of a shared commitment to creating a comfortable environment.

“We hope Jakarta remains conducive during Ramadhan and beyond. Let us work together to maintain inter-faith harmony,” Kusmanto said.

The Operasi Pekat Jaya 2026 is part of centralised instructions from the Metro Jaya Police District, implemented simultaneously across the jurisdiction, including East Jakarta.

The posts involve various elements including police, East Jakarta City Government, military and police (TNI/Polri), Regional Military Command (Kodim) 0505, and community members. Twenty personnel are stationed at each integrated post—10 from police units (either the East Jakarta Metro Police or Metro Jaya Police District) and 10 from the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Kodim 0505 Jakarta Timur, and community elements near the posts.

Operations at the integrated posts are based on vulnerability analysis. The posts are active from 4:00 PM to 8:00 AM the following day.
