East Jakarta Administration Installs Spotlight Lamps in Cawang Forest Park to Prevent Indecent Conduct

JAKARTA, Kompas.com - The East Jakarta municipal government has confirmed plans to install spotlight lamps in Cawang Forest Park as a measure to prevent indecent conduct at the location.

“The road maintenance team will also add lighting so that activities here are visible from the outside. Two spotlights will be installed,” said Makasar Sub-District Head Dimas Prayudi at Cawang Forest Park on Friday 27 February 2026.

Beyond installing spotlight lamps, the East Jakarta municipal government will also close two access points at the location to prevent indecent conduct.

“After that, there will be park monitoring and maintenance so that its function can be more optimal,” explained Dimas.

A joint task force will also conduct patrols to prevent misuse in the Cawang Forest Park area.

“We will conduct operations at night with the civil protection police and the three pillars together with the district police and territorial militia. Operations begin at 21:00 in the evening, and personnel from the parks department will be stationed on-site to monitor community activities and detect suspected park misuse,” he explained.

Previously, a video showing several men entering Cawang Forest Park on DI Panjaitan Street, Kebon Pala, Makasar, East Jakarta, went viral on social media.

In the video posted on Instagram account @ijoeel, the recorder stated that the area is frequently visited by men during nighttime hours.

“I don’t know what they intend to do. Every night after 01:00 WIB, they enter the park without knowing what they’re doing. Meanwhile, this park is dark,” said the video recorder.

Previously, Cawang Forest Park also came under scrutiny in 2023, when authorities raided the location after it was suspected of being a site for indecent conduct.
