A youth with the initials AS brazenly stole a motorcycle belonging to his friend, identified as S. The theft occurred whilst AS and S were staying overnight at the home of another friend, AT, in Postoh Village, Larantuka District, East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Friday (10/7/2026).

“The alleged criminal act of theft was committed by AS against a motorcycle owned by S,” said the Head of Public Relations for the East Flores Police, AKP Eliezer A Kaleledo, when confirmed on Monday (13/7/2026).

AS initially arrived at AT’s house and stayed overnight at his relative’s residence on Thursday (9/7/2026) at around 19:00 WITA. S was also staying at the house. During the stay, AS and S engaged in a lengthy conversation until around 22:00 WITA. AS revealed to S that he was stressed and had sought refuge there because he was frequently scolded by his parents in Waiwadan Village, West Adonara District.

Afterwards, S went to rest but woke up to use the toilet on Friday (10/7/2026) at around midnight. S saw AS pacing around the house and appearing restless. S asked why AS was not yet asleep, and AS claimed he was waiting for the World Cup 2026 match between France and Morocco.

Meanwhile, AT woke up to bake cakes at around 04:00 WITA. AT noticed that S’s motorcycle was no longer in the parking area and AS was also not in the house. S attempted to search for his motorcycle and AS, but they were nowhere to be found. S subsequently reported the loss of his motorcycle to the East Flores Police. The police received the report under Number LP/B/174/VII/2026/SPKT/POLRES FLORES TIMUR/POLDA NTT, dated 10 July 2026.

“After receiving the report, investigators conducted police actions in the form of an inquiry by taking statements from relevant parties who knew about the incident,” explained Eliezer.

Following further investigation, police received information that AS was in Sikka, NTT. Investigators from the East Flores Police Criminal Investigation Unit then headed to Sikka to pursue AS. However, upon arrival in Sikka, AS was already on a ship en route to Baubau, Southeast Sulawesi (Sulteng). “After learning this, investigators coordinated with the Baubau Police regarding AS’s whereabouts and efforts to locate the motorcycle,” Eliezer stated.

AS was eventually arrested by the Baubau Police, with a plan for East Flores Police to retrieve him on Wednesday (15/7/2026). The stolen motorcycle was found to have been entrusted to C, a person AS had just met in Sikka.
