East Flood Canal to begin in June
JAKARTA: City public works head IGKG Suena said on Wednesday that the 23-kilometer-long East Flood Canal development would start on the city's 475th anniversary, which will fall on June 22.
The agency has allocated Rp 12 billion for land acquisition and Rp 10 billion for the excavation work.
Suena said as quoted by BeritaJakarta.com that there were two options for the project. The first was to start from the north where a lot of land had already been required, while the second option was to begin from the south where several rivers could be intercepted and directed to the Cakung drainage channel. -- JP
