The East Aceh Regency Government (Pemkab) is rebuilding schools damaged by flooding when a hydrometeorological disaster struck the district at the end of November 2025. East Aceh Regent Iskandar Usman Alfarlaky, together with the Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation, laid the first stone for the school construction in East Aceh on Wednesday. “This school construction is not merely about erecting a new building, but also about instilling new hope for the future generation of East Aceh,” said Iskandar Usman Alfarlaky. According to him, the regional government continues to strive to provide comfortable, safe, and high-quality schools. The generation emerging from good schools will be the main asset in realising a more advanced Aceh in the future. The Regent stated that education is a long-term investment and receives serious attention from all parties. Therefore, the regional government welcomes the support of various humanitarian organisations assisting in post-disaster recovery, particularly in the education sector. Iskandar Usman called on the community to support the school construction process until completion and urged that no party obstruct the work on the ground. “I also ask village heads and officials to fully support this construction. No party should hinder the building of this school because everything is for the educational interests of our children,” said Iskandar Usman Alfarlaky. Meanwhile, Adi Priantyo, a representative of the Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation, said Aceh Province is the first region to receive a post-disaster school construction programme from the foundation. “Among the three provinces affected by disasters on Sumatra Island, Aceh is the first location to receive this programme. After Aceh, we will implement similar programmes in other areas also impacted by disasters,” he said. Adi Priantyo stated that construction of SD Negeri Teumpeun is planned to begin shortly and is targeted for completion by early December 2026. “The presence of the new school building is expected not only to restore educational facilities damaged by the flood but also to improve the quality of education for the younger generation in the West Peureulak area,” said Adi Priantyo.
