Ease of Capital Access Empowers Women MSME Entrepreneurs
As the world’s largest women’s empowerment institution, PNM continues to strengthen its role in opening access to capital, mentoring, and capacity building for underprivileged communities, especially women ultra-micro entrepreneurs. Through the Mekaar (Fostering Family Economic Prosperity) programme, PNM’s empowerment efforts not only encourage business growth but also have a real impact on increasing income, business management skills, household consumption, and customers’ access to higher formal financial services.
With the spirit of #PNMuntukUMKM and #PNMPemberdayaanUMKM, PNM has so far served 23.3 million customers from subsistence groups who previously had difficulty accessing finance. Research by INDEKSTAT (2025) shows that the net income of PNM Mekaar customers increased by Rp875,738 per month. Meanwhile, the business development capability index rose by 28.73 percent, moving from a low to a medium category.
LPEM research also notes that this economic implication has resulted in an increase in household consumption of Rp7.13 trillion up to 2025, with 2.35 million customers successfully graduating to higher formal financial services.
The PNM Mekaar programme continues to have a direct impact on millions of women ultra-micro entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Its presence not only opens access to capital but also builds customers’ confidence to continue developing their businesses and improving their families’ economic conditions.
PNM President Director Kindaris revealed that the effectiveness experienced by customers is the result of a consistently and comprehensively implemented empowerment approach. This empowerment programme is what differentiates PNM from other financing institutions.
“PNM helps not only in terms of business financing, but also assists customers through training, financial literacy, business literacy, and capacity building. We want to ensure that every customer gets the opportunity to develop, achieve family prosperity, and ultimately graduate to a higher level. This is what we call providing financial, social, and intellectual capital,” said Kindaris.
