Earthquake shakes North Sumatra

JAKARTA: An earthquake hit North Sumatra on Friday morning, but no fatalities or injuries were reported.

The Meteorological and Geophysics Agency reported that the quake measured 6.1 on the Richter scale.

It added that although the quake was relatively strong, it was considered normal, Antara reported.

Tremors were reportedly felt in Sibolga, North Sumatra, and as far away as Padang Panjang in West Sumatra.(hdn)
