Earthquake jolts Padang
PADANG, West Sumatra: A brief earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale shook Padang, Padang Panjang and Padang Pariaman regencies in West Sumatra on Sunday, Antara reported.
No casualties were reported.
Head of the West Sumatra chapter of the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) Sumarso, said the quake only took five seconds to eight seconds, at around 12:30 p.m.
The epicenter of the earthquake was below sea level in the Indian Ocean, located about 85 kilometers southwest of Padang Panjang.
"To date, we have not yet received reports of losses due to the earthquake," he said. -- JP
