Early-morning mugging attempt in Bekasi: husband rams attackers who threatened his wife with a sickle

BEKASI, KOMPAS.COM – A woman identified as H (28) was the victim of an attempted mugging while travelling along Jalan Raya Pekayon, near Ana Medika Hospital, Jakasetia Sub-district, South Bekasi City, Bekasi, on Tuesday 3 March 2026 at around 03:00 WIB.

The victim was riding a Honda Beat motorcycle, plate B 3550 CSS, from Pekayon toward Jatiasih, while her husband, AT (28), drove a car behind them after they had finished work.

Suddenly, three criminals on motorbikes intercepted the victim.

Startled, the victim fell from her motorbike.

From the rear-view mirror, AT immediately turned the car around and rammed the vehicle into the attackers.

“The husband then rammed into the attackers, causing one to fall,” said Dedi.

Police arrested one suspect identified as KR (23) and seized several pieces of evidence, including a celurit and the motorcycle used by the assailants. The other two suspects fled and are still at large. “The two who fled are still being sought,” he said.

Dedi added that the suspects are charged under Article 365 (Theft with Violence) of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), Law Number 1 of 2023, including Article 479, as well as emergency regulations concerning possession of a bladed weapon.
