E. Jakarta police chief replaced
JAKARTA (JP): City Police Chief Maj. Gen. Dibyo Widodo yesterday appointed Lt. Col. Gregorius Mere, previously head of general crimes of the city crime investigation directorate, the new East Jakarta police chief to replace Lt. Col. Miyanto.
The new officer, better known as Gories Mere, has recorded a wide range of successes in investigating challenging crimes in the city.
Miyanto has been appointed as head of the personnel directorate of the South Kalimantan regional police in the province capital of Banjarmasin.
In his inaugurating speech, Dibyo reminded Mere to professionally handle the eastern part of the city. East Jakarta is noted for its crime rate, which is largely due to it bordering on two other towns: Bekasi and Bogor. (bsr)
