E. Jakarta gets more phone lines
JAKARTA (JP): The East Jakarta Telkom office has installed
67,305 new phone lines since January, giving the mayoralty
284,569 lines.
Head of the East Jakarta Telkom office, Rizal Saat, announced
yesterday that another 20,000 lines are being prepared. "We plan
to reach 300,000 lines this year," Rizal said.
"The 1995 number exceeds the 1994 figures, but we still cannot
meet demand," he said.
The new telephone lines and stations were installed in
Gandaria, Kranggan, Pulogebang, Pekayon, Kranji, Kaliabang and
Bekasi, he said.
Rizal said that the telemarketing-162 service has worked
favorably. As many as 292 people have requested new lines through
the service since it began on Oct. 1.
Telemarketing-162 is a special phone number for people
applying for telephone lines in East Jakarta.
Twenty-five of the 150 applicants used the telemarketing-162
service, Rizal said, adding that the service runs from 8:00 a.m
to 3:00 p.m. everyday. (sur)
