E-cigarette industry pushes for technology transfer to target device production
PT Delta Sukses Teknologi is driving a technology transfer process to reduce dependency on raw materials and produce e-cigarette devices within the country.
Sales Director of Delta Sukses Teknologi, Iwan Wiratmana, stated that the company is currently conducting research to develop production facilities for devices in Indonesia. Speaking in Jakarta on Thursday, Iwan noted that the process still faces several challenges, primarily because some materials are still sourced from abroad.
He added that the company continues to encourage learning and technology transfer from other nations so that e-cigarette device production capabilities can be developed domestically. Currently, the e-cigarette devices marketed by the company are still produced overseas.
Regarding the development of human resources and research, Iwan mentioned that the company is also partnering with several Indonesian universities to support research and development activities.
Iwan noted that the development of the e-cigarette industry is occurring amidst growing market demand. He mentioned that the industry’s growth remains in the single digits, as consumers increasingly use e-cigarette products as an alternative to conventional cigarettes.
Head of Marketing at PT Delta Sukses Teknologi, Gumira Juandana, stated that the company continues to strengthen product quality through supervision ranging from raw materials to finished products. He added that the production process is carried out according to applied standardisation, ensuring every stage meets applicable regulations.
In addition to production development, the company is also pursuing product innovation while maintaining quality. Regarding devices, the company has launched updates as part of the industry’s effort to continuously respond to market developments and consumer preferences in accordance with regulations.
According to Juandana, since the initial launch in October 2024, the company has continued to expand its portfolio by prioritising product quality consistency, official distribution networks, and monitoring industry trends and market needs through internal company research.
