Dutchmen play in Marah Halim

JAKARTA (JP): Five Dutch professional players are more than fresh blood for local team Harimau Tapanuli as they gear up for the 19th Marah Halim Cup international soccer tournament in Medan, North Sumatra, next week.

Harimau's boss, Johny Pardede, welcomed the footballers, who are on loan from a Dutch club, at Polonia airport yesterday. He said he was considering signing on goalkeeper Huub Lenzen, libero Frank De Brouwer, midfielders John Van Dijk and Bas Gosgens and winger Peter Netten when the Medan club joins the national league next season.

Johny was quoted by Antara as saying that each of the foreign booters would receive no less than US$5,000 for the April 16-23 competition. (amd)
