Dutch Warship De Ruyter Arrives in Surabaya, Welcomed by Indonesian Navy Chief
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Royal Netherlands Navy warship, HNLMS De Ruyter (F 804), docked in Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday (14/5/2026).
The arrival of the ship was welcomed by the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali.
The visit is part of a friendly visit by the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Navy, Vice Admiral Harold Liebregs.
The honorary visit took place at the Headquarters of the Second Fleet Command in Surabaya.
The arrival of the Dutch Navy delegation is part of the series of events related to the docking of the HNLMS De Ruyter warship in the City of Heroes.
In the meeting, Ali appreciated the visit of the Commander of the Dutch Navy and his entourage.
“Hopefully, the discussions that take place can have a positive impact on regional stability and provide benefits for future generations of both countries,” said Ali.
He also hopes that the momentum of the Dutch warship’s visit to Surabaya can further strengthen bilateral relations between the two navies and enhance maritime cooperation in the region.
The event is a symbol of strengthening naval diplomacy between Indonesia and the Netherlands.
