Dust from Kramat Housing Project Threatening Residents Now Resolved

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Kramat Raya Street in Senen had previously drawn attention due to dust and scattered soil from a housing construction project, causing complaints and minor accidents. The road conditions in the Central Jakarta (Jakpus) area have now been cleaned, and the project manager has promised that similar incidents will not happen again. Based on a video upload from the Instagram account @ijoeel, parts of the road surface were covered in soil and gravel. The video also included complaints from residents who were victims of accidents due to the road conditions. “Someone had an accident as a result of the housing project in Senen that made the roads full of dirt and caused dust pollution,” read the caption in the upload. Kompas.com then checked the project site on the same day. The location is at Jalan Kramat Raya Number 21, Senen Subdistrict, right next to Masjid Baitul Falah. There is an information board stating “Housing Development. Result of collaboration between BP BUMN, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Danantara Indonesia, and DKI Jakarta Regional Government.” Three project workers were seen guarding the roadside and pavement to regulate the entry and exit of vehicles transporting construction materials. However, a row of private cars was parked along the edge of Jalan Kramat Raya, not far from the project site. Dozens of vehicles were occupying the road shoulder. One of the project workers, Zein, confirmed that the road had previously been dusty and dirty due to soil materials. However, on Monday morning, Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling Officers (PPSU) had carried out cleaning. “There was also a fire truck that sprayed the road for cleaning.
