During Recess, Legislator Gathers Citizen Input Regarding Infrastructure and Food Security
Rajiv, a member of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has utilised the parliamentary recess period to absorb the aspirations of the community across several areas of West Bandung Regency. Various issues raised by residents included public street lighting (PJU), food security, and agricultural infrastructure.
Rajiv stated that the recess period provides an opportunity for members of the DPR to meet directly with the public to gather input, which will serve as material for performing legislative, supervisory, and budgeting functions within parliament. “The recess momentum is crucial for me to return, connect, and directly absorb all community aspirations in West Bandung Regency without any distance. All this input will be my primary capital in performing my representative function in Senayan,” Rajiv said following a recess activity in Cipendeuy Village on Friday (31/07/2026).
During the recess period, which has been ongoing since 22 July 2026, Rajiv visited several community groups, including farmers, community leaders, and students. He also inspected several pieces of agricultural infrastructure to observe the conditions faced by farmers on the ground. “I must ensure that the people of West Bandung receive their rights as Indonesian citizens, and fight for policies that favour the interests and welfare of the community,” he said.
In one of the activities, Rajiv held a dialogue with students currently undertaking their Community Service Programme (KKN) in West Bandung Regency. During this session, students conveyed residents’ concerns regarding the lack of public street lighting, which is believed to affect public safety and comfort at night. Rajiv stated that these aspirations would be coordinated with the relevant agencies. “The sensitivity of the younger generation towards the environment where they serve provides a unique positive energy for me. Aspirations regarding street lighting are an important note that I will immediately coordinate, as the safety and comfort of citizens are paramount,” he noted.
On the same day, Rajiv also held a gathering with residents of Ganjarsabar Village, Nagreg District. In this meeting, the community provided various inputs regarding food security and health. As a member of Commission IV of the DPR RI, which oversees the agriculture, maritime, and fisheries sectors, Rajiv also promoted the ‘Gemarikan’ movement (Fish Consumption Movement) to encourage increased fish consumption as a protein source for the public. “The recess is not only a momentum to absorb community aspirations but also to provide education and care for public health and food security. Let us together build community awareness to enjoy consuming fish as a good nutritional source for families, while simultaneously supporting Indonesia’s fishery potential,” he said.
Rajiv added that the various aspirations gathered during the recess will serve as input for his duties in the DPR RI, including discussions on policies related to the public interest.
