Jakarta (ANTARA) - The majority of residents in the Jabodetabek area chose TransJakarta as public transport to Taman Margasatwa Ragunan and Monumen Nasional (Monas) to take advantage of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 holiday period.

One resident of Central Jakarta, Saka (35), said he deliberately chose TransJakarta for a family trip to Ragunan in South Jakarta.

“If I use a rented vehicle, it’s expensive, could be hundreds of thousands. So I prefer TransJakarta because it’s more economical and convenient,” Saka said in Jakarta on Sunday.

Saka mentioned that using public transport is also more practical because there is no need to worry about parking at tourist spots, which are usually full during the Eid holiday.

“If I drive a car, it’s a hassle to find parking, not to mention it’s full, long queues, wasting time,” Saka stated.

Jannah (45), a resident of Ciledug who came with her family, expressed a similar view. She said the cheap fare was the main reason for choosing the integrated rapid bus system.

“Riding TransJakarta only costs around Rp3,500. It’s cheap, so I can holiday without spending a lot, quite saving,” Jannah said.

According to her, besides being affordable, the bus journey is also relatively comfortable and avoids long traffic jams to tourist spots.

One of the favourite destinations for residents is Taman Margasatwa or Ragunan Zoo in South Jakarta, which is always crowded with visitors during the Eid holiday period.

This area is considered easily accessible by public transport, including TransJakarta with various direct routes to the location.

Based on observations, several stops to Ragunan were crowded with passengers from the morning. Residents appeared to be bringing families, including children, to enjoy the holiday without using private vehicles.

In addition, this density of public transport usage also occurred at the Monas stop. This crowd shows that residents are still utilising the Eid holiday.

TransJakarta services began operating at 09.00 WIB on the first day of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026, or later than the regular schedule.

“The buses will start operating at 09.00 WIB to give opportunities for drivers and field staff to perform Eid prayers,” said Director of PT Transportasi Jakarta Welfizon Yuza in Jakarta on Tuesday (17/3).

Welfizon said that during the Eid holiday period, from 18-24 March 2026, TransJakarta prepared several routes to main tourist spots in Jakarta with operating hours from 05.00-23.59 WIB for regular services.

Then, from 10.00-17.00 WIB for tourist buses to Ancol (routes 5 and 1W) and Ragunan (routes 6, 6A, 6B, 6V, 5N, 6N, and 7E).

As well as to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) (route 7D), and Kota Tua and Monas (routes 1, 2, 2A, 3, 3H, 12, 1A, 12B, and others).
