Duri-Tangerang Commuter Line services resume as stalled train moved to Rawabuaya for checks

The Duri-Tangerang commuter rail service experienced disruptions on Tuesday afternoon between Duri and Rawabuaya stations. KAI Commuter issued an apology for the infrastructure issue affecting Commuter Line No. 1978A, which occurred at 5:05 PM WIB.

Leza Arlan, KAI Commuter’s Public Relations Manager, stated that authorities responded to the report, with the overhead power supply (LAA) needing to be shut down, rendering the Duri-Rawabuaya section temporarily impassable.

“After receiving the report, relevant personnel immediately coordinated and managed the situation on-site to ensure passenger safety and expedite the normalisation of commuter operations,” Leza said.

He added that the overhead power was restored at 5:56 PM WIB. Commuter Line No. 1978A was coupled with No. 1980A and moved to Rawabuaya Station’s track three for further checks.

Leza noted that operational adjustments were made during the incident, affecting several services: No. 898A, 1980A, 1982A, and 902A for upstream directions, and No. 1983A, 895A, and 899A for downstream routes.

The operator is working to restore normal services to minimise delays for passengers.

The disruption occurred during evening rush hour, affecting trains travelling towards Taman Kota and Bojong Indah stations.

KAI posted on its X account at 6:03 PM WIB: “Apologies for delays on Tangerang Commuter Line due to operational issues with Train 1978A (Duri-Tangerang) between Taman Kota and Bojong Indah stations.”

The company did not specify the cause of the disruption, stating that staff were still conducting checks on the train set.
