Duren and Cunningham Lead Pistons to Victory Over Thunder 124-116
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Detroit Pistons defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 124-116 in a continuation of the NBA match between the two leading teams in the conference at Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Wednesday night local time or Thursday WIB, thanks to the dominant performances of Jalen Duren and Cade Cunningham.
Duren scored 29 points and 15 rebounds, while Cunningham added 29 points and 13 assists. This result marked the Pistons’ sixth win in their last seven games, further solidifying their position at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 43-14 record.
Quoting the NBA website, Duncan Robinson also contributed 16 points for Detroit to maintain the team’s consistent performance as the regular season approaches its final phase.
The visiting team’s situation became even more difficult after Isaiah Joe also went to the treatment room due to a hip bruise during the break.
Even though they appeared with a limited squad, the Thunder still put up a fierce fight. Jaylin Williams recorded a career-high of 30 points, while Cason Wallace added 23 points. This defeat brings the Thunder’s record to 45-15 (45 wins, 15 losses).
Duren’s productivity in the paint and Cunningham’s excellent ball distribution were the main differences. Detroit was able to take advantage of the absence of several key Thunder players to maintain control in crucial phases.
Next, the Oklahoma City Thunder is scheduled to host the Denver Nuggets on Saturday (February 28), while the Detroit Pistons will remain at home to face the Cleveland Cavaliers on the same day.
