Dumping duties on RI fibers

BRUSSELS (AFX): EU member states said they confirmed
imposition of definitive antidumping duties on imports of
synthetic staple fibers of polyester from Australia, Indonesia
and Thailand.

The duties on Australian imports are 12.0 percent for all
companies; 15.8 percent for Indonesia, except for lower rates on
five named companies; and 27.7 percent for Thailand, except for
three named companies, an EU regulation said.

"In view of the conclusions reached regarding dumping, injury,
causation, and community interest, it is considered that
definitive antidumping measures should be taken to prevent
further injury being caused to the community industry by dumped
imports," it said.

The regulation follows a commission inquiry and provisional
duties imposed in January, it said, without giving names of EU
producers.
