Dukuh Atas - Blok M to become busiest MRT route by 2026
The Dukuh Atas-Blok M area is set to become one of the busiest travel routes for MRT Jakarta users by mid-2026, following an increase in activity within the district. “Previously, Blok M was not a top origin or destination. However, since the resurgence of the Blok M area last year, we can see that the number one top origin-destination for MRT users is Dukuh Atas-Blok M,” stated Mega Natangsa Tarigan, Director of Operations and Maintenance at PT MRT Jakarta, during the 2026 Journalist Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to Mega, this increase is closely linked to the presence of the Blok M Hub, which has stimulated economic and social growth in the area. Furthermore, transport integration and various events held in both the Dukuh Atas and Blok M areas have attracted more people to use public transport. He noted that this trend demonstrates that transit areas are no longer merely points for changing transport modes, but are becoming new destinations for the public.
MRT Jakarta hopes that transport-based area revitalisation will continue to drive the growth of public transport users in Jakarta. Between January and April 202_ (projected/current data context), the Dukuh Atas-Blok M route recorded the highest number of passengers at 630,889, while the reverse route, Blok M-Dukuh Atas, ranked second with 621,516 passengers.
Additionally, MRT Jakarta noted that the occupancy rate for non-station retail areas within the Blok M Hub has reached 83.77 per cent since its inauguration, with 375 tenant units currently operating. The Blok M Hub is a revitalisation project for the area surrounding the Blok M terminal and mall, designed to serve as a transport and public facility hub. The project also aims to establish a centre for public activity, including the development of culinary zones and the ASEAN building, forming part of Jakarta’s new urban identity. The revitalisation of the Blok M area includes the construction of a 1.3-kilometre pedestrian walkway designed to be disability-friendly.
