The DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) has recorded that the number of new migrants to DKI Jakarta after Eid al-Fitr 1447 H is not particularly significant. For the period 25-31 March 2026, the number of migrants to Jakarta totalled just 1,335 people.

The Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Dukcapil, Denny Wahyu Haryanto, stated that this figure indicates the number of migrants to the capital is still experiencing a downward trend. This decline has been observed over the past three years.

“It seems there will again be a downward trend in the number of new migrants to Jakarta after Eid 2026, similar to the past three years,” he said on Wednesday (1/4).

Based on data compiled by Dukcapil, of the total 1,335 migrants entering Jakarta, 677 are men. Meanwhile, 658 are women.

Furthermore, they will conduct data collection until the end of April 2026.

“From 1-29 April, Dukcapil teams will carry out door-to-door civil registry services in several neighbourhood units (RW), in collaboration with sub-districts and villages as well as RT/RW administrators,” he said.

It is known that the number of migrants to Jakarta has been steadily declining in recent years.

According to Dukcapil data, the number of migrants to Jakarta in 2021 reached 20,046 people. This figure temporarily increased in 2022 to 27,478 people.

However, in 2023, the number of migrants to Jakarta dropped to 25,918 people. This continued to decline in subsequent years, to 16,207 in 2024 and 16,049 in 2025.

The DKI Provincial Government needs to prioritise the protection of Jakarta residents.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged new migrants after Eid al-Fitr 1447 H to prepare themselves and possess skills, in line with Jakarta’s positive economic growth.

Reporting to the village office with requirements including: Certificate of Transfer, Guarantor Letter, ID card, original Family Card from the origin area, and Child Identity Card.

DKI Jakarta Dukcapil will later conduct administrative checks on the migrants.

Rural communities wishing to reside in DKI Jakarta are reminded to have a transfer letter or Indonesian Citizen Transfer Certificate (SKPWNI) from their origin area.

DKI Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno commented on the Dukcapil data regarding the estimated number of new migrants to the Capital after the 2025 Eid holiday period.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government predicts a decline in the number of migrants to Jakarta compared to 2024.
